Growing up on the prairies of ND, in sub-zero weather I was never cold when asked if I had enough on the snowmobile, the 3-wheeler (yes I am that old) was kicking up dust on the dirt roads and couldn’t go too fast, and I would log thousands miles each summer on my single speed bicycle. So, I do this for you and for them (grand kids and great nephews) to have the same great memories. So go eat some dirt and bugs as you can’t help but smile twisting the throttle. Happy riding, Marian

Born with an entrepreneurial spirit and a constant need for adventure, David took up dirt biking as a teenager and returned to riding dirt bike in his 40's. If it has a motor, he is on it, traveling locally and internationally on two wheels with friends and his wife, Spencer. David enjoyed the Dakota600 event and saw a need to advocate for trail maintenance/development, thus volunteering to take on the task of creating and leading Trail Stewards in 2024 with a great team of like minded riders.
The rest of the team: We have an additional eight volunteers who administer and opreate the many facets of the Trail Stewards and the Dakota 600. Additionally, there are 15 LEMs that help during the Dakota 600.

Mark Erickson started riding in very early 1960’s on mini bikes at first and then got a 1968 Yamaha 80 Trailmaster as my first real motorcycle. Great memories of family fun trail riding and racing. I’m still flat track racing and trail riding as I believe it keeps one young…well at least that’s my story, my picture may indicate otherwise. As a Lifetime AMA member I encourage all to join as the AMA does support club events like the Dakota 600. My primary function with the Dakota 600 is related more to our 501(c)(3) side which is the Trail Stewards that monies raised from the D600 go into to support the maintenance and building of motorized trails with and emphasis on single track. Somehow being that I am know as a shy reserved guy (HA),it’s my job to liaison with the Forest Service and other agencies to reach our objective of maintaining single track trails in the Black Hills area. I always look forward to meeting with each of you during the Dakota 600 event. Wishing you safe and happy riding thru out the riding seasons.
The Trail Stewards is a SD and federal non-profit, 501c3, corporation which works to raise funds and promote off-road trails for motorcyclists. The Trail Stewards are dedicated to on-the-ground expansion, enhancement and development of responsible, motorized use of 62" and less 4-wheel trails and motorcycle single-track trails. Trail Stewards also support and work with other groups with similar goals.
